Global Entrepreneurship Week Welcomes Elite Keynote Speakers

Global Entrepreneurship Week is fast approaching and as with every year, Penn State is bringing in the best keynote speakers entrepreneurship has to offer. The speakers for GEW 2016 transcend a variety of disciplines and entrepreneurial experiences. Their wealth of knowledge is something you certainly won’t want to miss.

George Steinmetz – George Steinmetz Photography

George Steinmetz is an experienced and talented photographer with an affinity for photographing the unknown. He is a contributor to National Geographic and GEO magazines, among other notable publications. During his career, he received numerous awards, including being named National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year in 2008. He will be speaking about the business of freelance and teaching a master class in photography on Sunday, November 13, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Bill Brock – Straub Brewery

Bill Brock serves as the president and CEO of Straub Brewery located in St. Marys, Pennsylvania. Straub Brewery was founded in 1872 and Brock is a fifth-generation leader of the company. In his position, Brock ensures Straub remains competitive in the industry while still maintaining the family values and traditions it was founded upon. Brock will be speaking at two separate sessions on Monday, November 14, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Hung Ly – Chick-fil-A

Hung Ly is an owner and operator of several Chick-fil-A locations in Maryland. He began his career with the company in 2002 when he opened his first store in Baltimore, Maryland. Under his advisement, the business prospered, and in 2016 he is projected to acquire more than $12.5 million in sales. In addition to his success in business, Hung Ly feels very strongly about philanthropy. His team donates food to the Johns Hopkins Hospital each month, and in his 16 years in business, he has given more than $25,000 in Chick-fil-A scholarships. He will be speaking on Tuesday, November 15, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Jayme Goldberg – Silverline Global

Jayme Goldberg is CEO and co-founder of Silverline Athletics. Silverline Athletics is a digital media platform for endurance sports events, such as running, triathlon, and cycling. Since its creation in 2012, Silverline has expanded to become the largest media platform for endurance sporting events. Through her business expertise, she identified the market for endurance events and discovered a way for advertisers and sponsors to more effectively gain profit from digital media. A Penn State alum, Goldberg regularly speaks about digital sponsorship, activation, and entrepreneurship. She will be speaking on Wednesday, November 16, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Dan Deaver – Alkermes

Dan Deaver joined Alkermes in 1999 as director of Life Sciences. He currently serves as vice president and non-clinical R&D at Alkermes. Alkermes is a global biopharmaceutical company that addresses the needs of those living with extremely debilitating diseases. Prior to working with Alkermes, Deaver served as part of the Penn State faculty for 16 years. In his career, Deaver has focused on creating innovative approaches to work in the life sciences field. He has been named inventor on four issued U.S. patents. He will be speaking on Thursday, November 17, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Each with a unique background and area of expertise these keynote speakers have a depth of knowledge to offer. Those interested in all areas of entrepreneurship will find something that interests them and will ignite their passion for innovation.
