Our History

Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State was first held on the University Park campus in 2009, the year after the international founding of Global Entrepreneurship Week, and since then it has continued to grow exponentially. In 2009, Global Entrepreneurship Week hosted five events, engaging 48 students. In 2017, Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State organized 105 events at 16 different Commonwealth locations, drawing 4,816 students, faculty, staff, and community participants. At University Park alone, 17 University and community partners along with over 200 student volunteers helped to plan and execute a week long celebration of entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, and innovation.

In 2015, The Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union (PSECU), a longtime community sponsor, endowed an internship specifically to assist the Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State team in their mission to extend their reach of engagement for entrepreneurial students and community members.
